Apnea Following Intravenous Regional Guanethidine Blockade
Abstract
Intravenous regional guanethidine blockade (IVRGB) has been used as an attempt at relieving pain in patients with reflex sympathetic dystrophy who obtain poor or no pain relief following stellate ganglion blockade. There have been few reports of side effects of IVRGB to date. However, apnea occurred in one of 40 IVRGBs done in patients with reflex sympathetic dystrophy in our pain clinic.
